Bonjour Ami(e)s Routard,
I have finally reserved my ticket, departure next tuesday the 9th to the 23rd, and having absolutely nothing booked yet!
My only ‘plans’ are to visit Reykjavik during one of the two week ends, trek the landmannalaugar region and head towards the snaefellsness peninsula. And lots more not yet decided! My primary plan was to join a group of trekkers but the prices seem pretty high and will change my whole budget… still thinking about it though.
I’ve read quite a few of your discussions and planned itineraries which do help and enlighten an ‘ideal’ way of visiting iceland.
I’m temped to hire a car, but again, travelling alone, it does put pressure on my wallet!
Is there anyone or a few of you also arriving tuesday 9th or are in iceland during that period and who have space or would like to share part of the travels by car, or are planning to trek during that period?
Or do you simply recommend I rent a car and pay the price of travelling freely and visiting a max of iceland during a short period? In that case, shall I do the ring road or stick to taking the time in the places I stated above?
Is the ‘golden circle’ worth really doing and if so, via tour guide or renting a car?
Have any of you improvised Iceland in this manner or shall I start panicking?!!
Thank you for any help you may share and I apologise for the vast and rather general questions! At this stage guide lines could me of use!
Take care and I look forward to hearing from you.
